If you reside in an area like we do in Western New York (we're in Rochester!) With beautifully hot summers and cold snowy winters, you will understand that your options for your child's birthday celebration are largely dependent on the weather.
As an August baby, we always had little family parties out at my residence. But, with sons born in November and March, we are constantly left to book an indoor venue for their celebrations, if we chose to have them that season. While those with kids with summer birthdays may seem lucky to have so many options at their disposal, it can also often feel overwhelming.
While at Climbing Vines Cafe and arcade game (
recreationreview.net) Play we might be biased since we host indoor parties, I wanted to share with you the 5 most common reasons we hear out of previous celebration clients to book indoor summer birthdays with us. To these, the stress-free nature of the indoor summertime celebration is a no-brainer, plus they are not looking back! Following their initial indoor summer party, they continue hosting with us year after year.
1) NO WEATHER WORRIES
The most common cause for a client to book a summer indoor celebration with us is they don't have to stem the weather prediction for upgrades in the weeks leading up to the celebration. And if you've ever had to cancel or postpone your child's birthday due to weather, then you know how heartbreaking that can be.
We get dozens of calls each summer a few days before someone's outdoor celebration is supposed to happen to see if we have an open slot for them in our indoor party venue because of weather woes. We can usually pull this off if the place is open, but hosts will sadly need to starve and let all of their guests know of the change in place and likely change in time, and change all of their catering requests to accommodate their new party program.
While of course rain is probably the largest obstacle you might face, extreme warmth, unseasonably cool weather, and wind may also pose problems to your food, decorations, along with your guests' possessions. You will probably end up investing in a tent another weather barrier just to ease your mind a bit, which are costly and require lots of precious time to set up and take down. I will not even tell the narrative of this time my Dad put a tent up for a celebration in a windstorm and wound up with a insurance claim for 4 damaged cars when it withdrew (weights and anchors and all!) ...
2) CHANGING IT UP
Besides the obvious weather concerns you can avoid with a indoor party, there may also just be something so straightforward and lovely about a indoor summer celebration. Guests won't need to be worried about bringing towels and sunscreen and sunglasses and swimsuits and changes of clothing and bug spray... you get the picture.
Sometimes it's nice to take a short break in the outside, sip coffee in an air-conditioned cafe, also have a real conversation with other adults while the kids play, rather than chasing children around attempting to get their hat on them or keeping them away from the in-ground pool. I'm not sure about you, but I could never really relax at an outdoor summer birthday party with a two and a 4 year-old. While they sure do have a fantastic time running around, we typically leave in a daze or with a tantrum, unsure if we even had time to chat or check in with everyone.
While I absolutely love a fantastic barbecue or summer grilling extravaganza, I also find it refreshing when we can take a rest from the same-old backyard celebration and spend a couple of hours at a relaxing, cool, and most importantly-- contained! -- atmosphere.
It is also freeing as a guest to have the rest of the day to do as we wish as a family and not need to be concerned about getting the kids to a bath right after the celebration or stopping home to cool off and change clothes.
I guarantee that if you book an indoor celebration for your child, guests (especially family) may seem a bit confused at first (why not take advantage of the summer weather while we could, right?) But after hosting hundreds of indoor parties I will tell you for certain that on the day-of, you and your visitors will realize how nice it is to kick back in an air-conditioned private celebration for a few hours.
3) EATING IN PEACE
Speaking of how relaxing an indoor, air-conditioned party can be, how can we discuss food for a moment?
Right now, my sweet 4 year-old boy is terrified of bees, and the quickest way to send him into a tailspin would be for him to sit down to eat a cupcake or his meal and also have bees swarming around. Therefore, for our family, the meals factor alone would be sufficient to warrant an indoor party.
Eating in peace without having to find colour or a chair or a location away from bugs is one of these things that you do not realize can be so glorious before you attend your fourth or fifth outdoor summer gathering and after that get a break from them. Among the most common things we hear is how fine it's to sit and eat and watch the kiddos play with no any other venue-related cares or worries. This will be particularly important when you are going to be having elderly family members attend that will struggle with being mobile in the sand or marijuana and finding seating at outdoor parties.
Plus, when was the last time you attended an outdoor summer party with a full espresso bar and cafe available for visitors to enjoy now that they don't need to worry about running around chasing their children in the heat?
While party aesthetic may not be a determining factor for every household, it sure is significantly easier to create a themed extravaganza which lights a youngster's face up as soon as the party's indoors. The decorations demanded tend to be less since the area is smaller and included contained, and you won't need to worry about balloons and streamers blowing about or securing table covers down.
Since we do host cellular events outdoors at Climbing Vines Cafe and Play, I can also speak from experience when I say the time that it takes to set up (and take down!) Decorations for an outdoor celebration compared to an indoor party usually ends up being at least double. Finding good places to hang banner, needing two people to hold and protect everything, and finding weights or other restraints for everything may be a genuine hassle on celebration.
And you'll have enough to worry about this day, right?
Also, if your own pinterest planks are full of cute centerpieces, a candy bar, or anything which may be affected by wind (or bring bees!) You will likely have to restrategize for an outdoor soiree.
And of course decor typically can only get used once if used outdoors, but repurposed again and if used for an indoor event. Our guests that host indoor occasions, especially those who invested significant money into decoration or worked hard to create their own, are pleased to find they can usually make a large chunk of the money back by reselling their supplies something like Facebook Marketplace.
5) YOU MAY ACTUALLY SAVE MONEY
Speaking of money, probably the greatest misconception I hear from customers is they wish to host a party in their home to save themselves the leasing fee of an indoor space. I usually laugh at this because it makes perfect sense, in other words, if you've never hosted an outdoor party.
With all of the"extras" such as tents, chair rentals, additional decorations, weather reinforcements, clean-up provides, games and activities for the children (which you won't have to provide at a play place!) , pool toys, etc.... It's very possible that you are going to end up spending MUCH more hosting a celebration at your home or an outdoor venue than you would indoors.
I am not sure how other indoor spaces handle their equipment, but we just charge guests for extra drinks and supplies and these on the afternoon of the party should they wind up needing themand we also enable parties to bring in their OWN meals, dessert, and decor if they choose!
Money aside, spending countless hours cleaning prior to, during, and after the party may also have a toll. Wouldn't it be wonderful to walk into a sparkling clean space and depart with your guests when the party's over, not needing to be concerned about the cleanup, garbage removal, tent teardown, etc?
You can just head home and relax with your loved ones (yes, possibly outside!)
In addition to the time spent cleaning before and after the party, wouldn't it ALSO be nice to not have to play"server" during the event? For clients that bring in their own food and decoration, our dedicated celebration assistants set everything up, refill and
mend food and drinks as necessary, clear dishes, cut and serve the cake, and then pack up all of the leftovers at the end of the
celebration!
After all, it is your child's special day and you want to spend those precious hours making memories and visiting with your guests-- not running about chasing your decorations or refilling the fruit bowl countless times.
So save everyone (and especially your own family!) Plenty of stress, time, and worry by booking your event with us summer time. We would be honored to offer you an easy, enjoyable experience which will leave your entire guest list feeling refreshed, grateful, and filled with love after spending a relaxing (yet fun-filled!) day together.
